Avendus Securities, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avendus Capital, a financial services firm in India, has launched a Research App for iPhone and iPad users. The application developed by Avendus Securities, allows investors to access institutional research covering companies across various industries including Automobiles, Banks, Cement, Construction, Consumer, Engineering, Financial Services, IT Services, Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Retail, Telecom and Utilities. The app can be downloaded free of charge from Apple’s App Store.
Our Take
The app is essentially a document browser, which features research papers on companies in .pdf format, that can be browsed on the basis of recency, industry type, or by an alphabetical listing of company names. The documents that it features are full of detailed information, including charts, financials and analyst information, however, the app is rather basic, and the only value add that it offers is the ability to e-mail research reports.
Suggestions:
- Although the list of companies is not that long, at the time of writing this post, it would be difficult to browse, when more companies are added. Perhaps a company search feature can be introduced.
- The app could also add a bookmarking tool, wherein the user can bookmark particular reports, for later reference within the app.
- It could also feature integration with Dropbox, or iTunes sharing to save reports, since they are in .pdf format.
